However, there is a long way to go, as many teams will be playing 4/9 of their conference games in the next month. Honestly, it would not shock me if the entire conference, with the exception of the top and bottom spots will change drastically in November/December. Why? Well... Stanford still has to play Cal/U$C/Oregon. Arizona too has the Ducks left on its schedule (though an upset could be in order as the game is in Tucson). Oh, it also has to go to downtown LA and Berkeley. Cal and U$C have favorable schedule since they got most of their remaining tough competition at home and have both already played Oregon. Oregon State has Cal/Oregon left in their last third of the season, both of which could be losses (though OSU owns Cal lately in Berkeley). ASU has to travel to Pasadena to take on UCLA, play Arizona, U$C, and Oregon, those could easily be spell an extension of its current losing streak by four more.
The teams that I believe can climb up from their current positions are the California teams that wear some sort of yellow/gold. U$C as mentioned has a pretty favorable schedule the rest of the way, and when was the last time they lost THREE games in a season? Cal also has a nice schedule, though it has to play the big game against Stanford on The Farm, which in 2007 meant a loss. Lastly, UCLA gets Washington at home, which should be a sure win considering UCLA has more talent, Jake Locker is slightly injured, and UW has not won in Pasadena since 1995. Then, the Bruins travel to Pullman, get ASU at home which should be a win, but is pretty even in my opinion. Finally, they have the crosstown showdown on Thanksgiving weekend against the Trojans, a game that though is at the Coliseum, could maybe be labeled a trap game? But maybe I'm just an optimistic Bruin. With that said here is what I project to be the final Pac-10 standings after the first week of December (just in order and with bowl eligibility):
